The House Across the Street is an original print as part of the 'Construct Series’ concerned with the transient nature of the body. Living with chronic pain issues, the artist is an advocate for the normalising the ‘abnormal’ body, and through her work, she utilises construction imagery as a symbol for the re-constructed and healing body. Having undergone major orthopedic surgery, the artist likens the materiality of construction scaffolding to the brutality of reconstructing anatomy. Steering away from literal representation, the work speaks to the personal experience of being ‘rebuilt’ and ‘reconstructed’ both physically and psychologically.
